Speaking Opportunities in May
This month has been one with a number of opportunities to share about being a woman in leadership and serving in elected office.

I joined 3 lovely women for a panel discussion about what prompted us to get involved in our local communities, what we value, and how we would advise others interested in the same. We shared some of our personal stories with both laughter and tears, and did our best to encourage women to advocate for themselves and look for opportunities wherever they are.
It was a real pleasure to meet Madeline Iseli, Senior VP at Sinclair College, and to spend time chatting with Abby Melampy from Duke Energy and Trustee Kristin Malhotra from Deerfield Township. Everyone genuinely wants to see people thrive, and I thoroughly enjoyed the conversations with attendees afterwards.
Thank you so much to Dr. George Sehi and Dr. Fatemeh Hajihosseini of Women Walking West for organizing this event and for inviting me.
High School Government Learns about Local Government
I received an invitation from one of the Mason High School government teachers to come speak to her students about what it means to be on City Council. They spend most of their semester learning about Federal government, so I was delighted to share how different (and nonpartisan) it is to serve on our city council. Our mayor, Diana Nelson, joined me for two classes.
I enjoyed both of these speaking opportunities. I welcome your invitation to speak or facilitate a community conversation with your group.
Something else I’ve been considering is hosting a town-hall-style event for residents to come and ask questions, share ideas, and express concerns in a more interactive setting that we have in our formal city council meetings.
