Parking Lot for East Main

Downtown Committee, 3/27/25

New MADE Chamber team members

  • Tricia Fetters. Director of Strategic Operations

  • Olivia Kentner, Communications & Engagement Manager

MADE CDC hosted their first meetup of the year in March. Had people sign up to participate in various committees to make the mile Fun/Active/Beautiful (FAB). Initial community meetings about these happening:

  • 4/17 - Beautiful, 4-5pm.

  • 4/24 - Active, 4-5pm.

  • 5/1 - Fun, 4-5pm.

Final selection phase for an activation partner - master planning. RFP had 2 pieces to it - physical planning (gaps, how to fill) and regulatory (zoning changes needed). 6-month project.

Upcoming event: Mason Mile Rocks Reveal Party - May 3

East Church Street Parking and Plaza

  • Need to scope water into the project!

  • First phase would be less than half a million to add some additional parking back there. Full project is a u-shaped lot with space in the middle for farmers market, events, and more. Price tag for the full lot is roughly $1.5 million

My Notes:

  1. Interesting to see how a partnership with the chamber looks in a more mature committee. They come and report on work and collaboration with the city. Could we get something more formal like this going in small business and arts & culture?
